Meet Your Instructor

Hello! My name is Jared Tidd, and I have been teaching piano for over 10 years, and have been playing for over 30 years. I enjoy teaching all ages, from 4 to 104. I have a Master’s in Piano Performance from Miami University and have participated in various competitions and master classes, including with the legendary Menahem Pressler. My goal is for all students to understand how to play piano for life. This is done using a combination of methods and is tailored to the individual student.

Teaching Philosophy:

I believe that everyone is capable of reading and understanding music. This is accomplished by using different games/apps/materials to learn how to read the notes, and then daily or weekly sight reading so the student can improve their reading skills. When we learn how to read books, we read more and more and subsequently get better and better. The same is true for music. More sight reading equals stronger music players. I also incorporate music theory into my teaching in order to gain a deeper understanding of what we are playing. For the more serious student, we will participate in Royal Conservatory of Music exams and/or competitions and festivals. For more info, please go to: https://www.rcmusic.com/
